Hello! I am a graduate of Portland State University's School of Social Work where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Studies. I have 15 years of experience working with children in both home and facility settings. A few additional credentials are: -infant cpr certified -enrolled in central background registry -completed many training courses outside of my degree including: - recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect - early inclusion for infants and children with special needs -conflict resolution in childcare -sleep training tactics -learning through play I have worked with a wide array of age groups from 2 months up to 13 years in a variety of environments including in home care, private preschools and Portland public schools. Most recently my experience is with infants and children from 3 months to 9 years in age. I learned to work with infants at Helen Gordon Child Development Center which emphasizes the RIE philosophy and also uses a Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum. These both focus heavily on respect for infants and children through communication, scaffolded activities, patience and an openness to learn from them as much as we teach. I enjoy planning creative play time both indoors and outdoors year round. I have spent a lot of time helping the families I have worked with to incorporate healthy fruits and vegetables into their toddlers diets by making fun cooking projects a part of our daily activities. I have often helped families transition their infants onto purees, and solid foods and really enjoy making these from scratch. I am very open to helping families with daily household management tasks like laundry, errands, cooking and general cleanliness whenever possible. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
