Hi my name is Shelby Salisbury. I graduated from Tecumseh High School in 2013, and since then I have been attending college at Washtenaw Community College working to receive a Bachelor degree in Nursing. I became a Babysitter Instructor through the American Red Cross in 2013, being one of the youngest people to become a Babysitter Instructor. I taught 3 classes, in each there were 10-15 children between the ages of 12-15 years old. During the course we taught the kids how to respond to emergencies, the skills to properly care for infants and adolescents. The skills ranged from bottle and spoon feeding, changing clothes and change diapers. Along with the basic skills we taught them, we also taught them how to care for an infant or adolescent who is choking, who is unresponsive and basic first aid. Due to becoming a babysitting instructor, and teaching 3 courses, I was one of three that won the Volunteer of The Year award in Health and Safety Services. Along with this accomplishment I am First-Aid and CPR certified.
