My name is Deanna Dawson. I am 22 years old and just moved to Colorado Springs from Santa Cruz, California! I am passionate about youth education and early childhood development. I have completed some course work in the ECE program at Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA and will be starting my schooling again at Pikes Peak Community College to begin completing my pre-meds. I hope to start studying Pediatric Care in the next couple of years. My background in being a Nanny and childcare provider stems from many years as a volunteer and a staff member at Twin Lakes Church and Camp Hammer. When I was on staff at Twin Lakes Church I was the female mentor for 6-8th grade students within the Jr. High ministry. I supervised field trips, played games, sang songs, entertained, and was just a friend to up to 40 students per activity. At Camp Hammer, I was a cabin leader during the summer of 2014. I was in charge of the spiritual and physical well being of 9-12 4th-8th grade students per week. For 10 weeks I was constantly around elementary through high school students and I absolutely LOVED it! I was required to be knowledgeable in biblical theology, creative and crafty, outgoing, fun, and loving. I would take cabins on entertaining and educational creek walks where they would learn about nature and wildlife. In addition to my experience as a Jr. high ministries staff member and camp cabin leader, I have babysat for many families in Santa Cruz from ages infant-6th grade and was also a pre-K to 4th grade private violin teacher! I have always loved working with kids and I hope to, even in the medical field, for years to come.
