As a recent Early Childhood graduate from George Brown College, I have learned the value and rewards of hard work and dedication. Throughout my college career I strived to do my best, and I promise to do the same as an Early Childhood Educator/nanny. In addition to the skills I learned during my studies at George Brown College, I also have learned how to use the Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) along with How Does Learning Happen? Ontarios Pedagogy for the Early Years has a tool to understand childrens development. This has enable me to observe the sequence of skills that children at different ages can be expected to gain across a broad developmental domains (physical, social, emotional, communication/ language and cognitive). Through these observations, I am able to plan curriculum and pedagogy that are play-based, diverse, safe and environmentally friendly. The Project Approach has allowed me as an Early Childhood Educator to build on the natural interests of children, allowing them to interact, question, connect, problem-solve, communicate, reflect, and so on. This kind of realistic learning extends beyond the classroom to each students home, community, nation, and the world. It essentially makes learning the substance of real life and children active members in and molders of their worlds.
