Hi there! My name is Rebecca, and I'm 21! I currently attend Ryerson University for Child and Youth Care, where I academically thrive. Within my program, I am consistently learning about how to effectively approach the act of facilitation in different therapeutic milieus. More specifically, by participating in workshops, I am able to constantly design new therapeutic approaches to working with children and their families. In a recent trip to Central America, I built a school for children simultaneously supporting their families throughout the entirety of my time in the community. Throughout this process, I was able to work among my fellow volunteers to develop games and songs for children within the environment. My passion for helping and working with children additionally extends to SickKids, where I volunteer in the Child Life department, interacting with children and families on a daily basis. Finally, I teach a developmental enrichment program for infants and toddlers on a weekly basis, which creates avenues for me to feel extremely comfortable working with both larger groups of children, as well as implementing creative and developmentally-appropriate play-based activities for little ones! Despite my list of prerequisites, I'm also extremely invested in each individual child I know and care for. I respect the needs of each child and family I interact with and have dedicated my career and life to working with children. I live in East York, right near Coxwell station! However, I am comfortable using transit and can travel to different areas in the city. I'm very capable (and happy) to take care of any other household tasks, as well as help with homework or pet care. I have a pet of my own, so I'm very comfortable around any animals! I am First Aid and CPR certified, and I can provide a VSS. I live by the idea that though we're often the ones who teach children, we have so much to learn from them as well! Investing my time into the well-being of children is my passion, and I'm here to help you out!
