I am 22 year old white female looking to help your child with his or her homework, reading, studying skills, activities, sports, ETC. I have 7 years of experience tutoring and baby sitting for daycares. I worked with my mother for 7 years because we both shared the same passion for children. I cherish their minds and imagination, especially watching their minds work hard at a puzzle or strenuous game. We planned field trips and activities that gave structure and meaning to daycare. I personally plan on opening my own daycare someday, with the knowledge that I have and am still learning. Before we went on the hunt I would hide a watermelon. When we find it I would explain and show pictures of what type of animals laid the egg and have them imagine what their world might look like. We would carry the watermelon back and eat the watermelon. The worst experience I have had with a child is a special needs child. She was very difficult and emotional. She would say naughty things that were inappropriate about her mother and father. I explained to her that she needed to keep her thoughts to her self and write them in a journal. She obliged after a few times. I have discovered many things with working with her. I am currently working with a 9 year old boy with aspergers. I have found that it is rewarding to have made progress with him and his sister, age 12. I love my job as a nanny. The best experience I had with a child was when I was babysitting a little girl. We were alone at her parents home. She did all her homework and asked for help. I made her dinner and gave her a bath. I set her to bed and she asked for a bedtime story. I retrieved a book from her shelf and read her a story. She was so sweet. A few weeks ago I had a hard time getting a child to listen to me. She refused to help clean up her toys. I slowly and patiently started to clean them up, asking her if she wanted to take a time out. She continued to not help. So I had her sit for 4 minutes, because she was 4 years old. She started to clean up after her time out was done. I held myself calm and collected while I was punishing her for her disobedience. She now respects me and listens to my requests. Discipline should always be fair. Meaning, harsher consequences for naughty behavior while lighter discipline for lighter issues. I have yet to experience an emergency with a child. If I did I would first contact the parents and have them decided if I need to call emergency services depending on the situation. If they do want me to call I would call immediately while performing CPR or any kind of first aid training I have received until medical professionals have arrived.
