Sitter in Saint Joseph, Missouri

I have two nieces, 12 and 5. I love it when they come to visit. We have fun, but they also know that I'll set them in time out if needed. When my nieces visit, or when I'm watching friend's children, we always stay active. We go to the park, the movies, the library, sledding, bike riding, the zoo, etc. At home we play card/board games, color, play in my fenced back yard, and settle down with a movie or a marathon of Doc McStuffins/Lego Ninjago/Jessie. I always make sure that healthy snacks are available, and that they are fed. Bath time, brushing teeth, washing hands, throwing trash away, and manners are all things we work on throughout the day. I've raised my 3 siblings from baby/toddlers well into high school. I run the nursery/children's church/youth group at my church. Most children love me by the end of the first day, sadly there are always those rare ones that just don't want to connect. I was getting my youth and family degree with minors in criminal justice and psychology and have learned that you always try to find a common ground with people and build from there. Children are the same way. It's much easier for me to find common ground because we usually have more than a few things in common. I haven't been certified in a long time, but I do know cpr and first aid. I'm told I'm an overly cautious driver especially when I have children in my vehicle. I'm used to working 3 jobs a day, 14 hour days and am looking for a change in pace. I'm loosing my full time job soon and am looking to fill in most of that time. I would love to have a positive impact on your child's life and make time away from you easier. Whether it be at my house or yours or both, my childlike spirit, my loving dogs, and my nack for children make for a loving, safe environment.
