Greetings Families, I am a queer Mama and Nanny with 30 years experience working and being with kids. I have two very wonderful sons ages 2 years old and 6 and I'm seeking to care for one or two more kiddos age 2 or older. I'm seeking 40 hours a week Monday-Friday, approximately 7:00-5:00 at my Lake Merritt home. Phineas is in school Monday-Friday so will not be with us until late afternoon. Our home environment is spacious and very kid focused with lots of art supply's, dress up clothing for dramatic and imaginary play , games and puzzles, a hand crafted slide I made myself, swings and lots of other engaging toys to have fun and learn with. I believe kids have an innate drive to learn so I provide lots of room and opportunities for them to discover. I give a combination between offering projects and ideas and going with what their natural interest are and I encourage them to do what they feel drawn to do. I like to create calm time when needed by reading books. I offer interactive active time with singing and dancing or yoga or imaginary play. I really enjoy the spontaneity of being with kids and going mostly with their flow. If I see that quiet time is needed ill just sit down and start reading books to help us all take a break. I time I have a very safe 2010 toyota sienna for adventuress I fun kid places out of the house. We will also take lots of lake walks. Phineas, my 6 year old is very social and loves other kids. Sage is my 2 and very fun. He adores his big brother and loves watching and interacting older kids. They are both very loved and well adjusted. My parenting and nannying style is very gentle, peaceful and respectful. I am very emotionally present with the kids at all times though I also give plenty of room for them to find their own flow while they explore their world. Social and emotional development is very important to me. I will always be there to help facilitate the kids in their interactions if they are having a tough moment. I never "make" the kids share but I do help them take turns and communicate what is happening between each other. I believe that we adults are their role models so I am always aware of my actions. I believe that giving tons of empathy to the kids helps them feel seen and heard. This also role models how to have empathy for their peers. I validate their feelings even if I don't condone a behavior. I believe that boundaries give kids a very important sense of emotional and physical safety. Their job is to push up against us and our job is to gently and lovingly hold them through this huge learning curve. I also facilitate them learning to feel empowered by using their voice in setting boundaries between each other and articulating their wants, needs and feeling.
