State Licensed, CRP and Home & Safety Certified. -About Me: Thank you for taking the time to read about me and what The Little Hummingbirds is all about, I'm Evelyn, owner of this California Licensed Home-Daycare. I have eight years of experience working with children as a private family nanny for three different families in San Francisco. I started at a young age doing basic babysitting jobs in high school, and worked my way to  become a full-time nanny. Opening Little Hummingbirds was the a natural next step, after obtaining my degree in Psychology, Behavioral and Social Science and Liberal Arts. Having grown up watching my mother, who has been my mentor and has been in childcare for 25 years, really opened my passion for childcare. Being a part of a child’s development and life was very rewarding to her, and I knew that I wanted to pursue a line of work that made me feel like I had made a difference.  Since I find it enjoyable and very rewarding being around kids,  childcare was it! As I studied basic child-development courses in college, I learned different modern practices which I found I could combine with what my mother has taught me. I love blending the traditional and the modern.  I also am proud of being fully bilingual in Spanish and English and have created a welcoming  bi-lingual environment for the the children. We emphasize one language or the other with individual children, at the parent’s request, and in general activities integrate songs, stories and games from both cultures (and others as well!) , -What Evelyn’s Family Childcare “The Little Hummingbirds” has to offer: The Little Hummingbirds provides early stepping stones to a child's life. We provide a safe and loving environment in which each child can develop his or her own personality. We will gently emphasize basic peer/social etiquette, and participation skills. The children will learn to be focused while at the same time have fun engaging in playful and enjoyable activities indoors and outside. The children will be exposed to healthy eating and healthy hygiene habits, and a diverse world of cultures and people. Our staff is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and we are open to creating a linguistic balance of the parent’s choice. In general, our playtime activities will involve both English and Spanish stories, games and songs.  General child care includes the following: *making/providing meals *diaper changing *Co-potty training (if parents are starting to do so) *arts and crafts projects *going outside to play. *story-time *music-time *playing, interacting with the children, etc. Indoor space: The facility has many toys that allow children to engage with their peers, use their imagination, and explore their creative side. Our toys include: -Small play kitchen with play food, pots and pans, and tea sets for those who want to release their inner mini-chef. -Puzzles -Blocks -Diverse play dolls and people -Cars, train sets -Animals -Instruments and more.... - A lot of books for all the ages of children that are here in the daycare. -For infants there are many sensory toys and play mats. Outdoor space: The facility has an open space in the yard that allows the children to play outside. Outdoor activities include: -Sand and Water sensory table -Bubbles -Sidewalk chalk -Playhouse -Non-mechanical Car (moved by pushing feet) -Picnics -Reading time outside -Music time outside *some activities are limited based on the weather **Children are NEVER left unattended and alone. 3 children to 1 adult is the ratio. Parents are more than welcomes to check out the facility; Tours, by appointment only, are held Fridays and Saturdays starting at 10:00 am.
