Cherry Valley Kid's Kastle has an opening for a preschool teacher / child care assistant. Interested parties must be at least 18 years of age, have their own transportation and be able to pass an FBI background check. Previous child care experience preferred. College scholarships are available to employees who are interested in a degree in Early Childhood Education. Scholarship covers 100% of your tuition and $1000 per year for books. Scholarship available for a 2 year or 4 year degree. Starting pay is above minimum wage. Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday. Welcomes children each day, provides meals, performs crafts and activities, changes diapers, and ensures children behave well when in contact with other children. Primary responsibilities Nurture and care for children while parents are at work or school. Provide nutritious meals. Wash hands and mouth before and after meals. Perform good hand-washing techniques for disease and infection control. Organize activities and implement curricula that stimulate children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth. Clean activity rooms and bathroom. Prepare bottles and change diapers. Ensure children have adequate supplies from home, such as diaper cream and diapers. Prepare children for school. Provide for a child's basic needs. Comfort children when they are crying. Determine cause of distress. Report behavior to parents each day. Supervise children while they are playing outside or on a playground. Job Duties Supervise and monitor the safety of children in care Prepare meals and organize mealtimes and snacks for children Help children keep good hygiene Change the diapers of infants and toddlers Organize activities so that children can learn about the world and explore interests Develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring the problems to the attention of parents Keep records of children’s progress, routines, and interest Decision-making skills. Good judgment is necessary for childcare workers so they can respond to emergencies or difficult situations. Instructional skills. Childcare workers need to be able to explain things in terms young children can understand. Interpersonal skills. Childcare workers need to work well with people to develop good relationships with parents, children, and colleagues. Patience. Working with children can be frustrating, so childcare workers need to be able to respond to overwhelming and difficult situations calmly. Physical stamina. Working with children can be physically taxing, so childcare workers should have a lot of energy.
