Kari`s Occasional Childcare What is K.O.C.C? Kari`s Occasional Childcare is a non-licensed casual child care program offered out of a home childcare setting. This program is designed to allow parents to drop off their child(ren) on a casual basis. This is an ideal program for parents that need to get some shopping done, have appointments, or just need a “time out”. Where is K.O.C.C and what does it offer? Kari`s Occasional Childcare is located central to the west end of Kingston in the neighbourhood of Waterloo Village. K.O.C.C will offer children age’s 3mo-10 years, compassionate care with crafts, outdoor play, and age appropriate activities through play. Healthy snacks (according to the Canada food guide) will be provided in the morning and in the afternoon but if the children will be there over lunch the parents are asked to pack a lunch for them (light cooking is available if needed). Nap space is available for those children that may need it. How do I book childcare and how much does it cost? Parents can book by phone up to 7 days before care is needed, in exception to medical appointments for which childcare can be booked further in advance. Parents will be charged an hourly rate, of $6 for the first child and $4 for any additional children. What hours is the program available and how many children will there be? K.O.C.C will be available on Mondays, alternate Wednesday’s, and Fridays from 830-4pm. Hours may increase if the need is there. K.O.C.C follows the current Ontario Unlicensed Childcare ratio laws of 5 children under the age of 10. However, numbers will be restricted to no more than 3 children less than 18 months at the same time. You can find the link to the child care fact sheet bellow. http://....ca About the Care Giver Kari Whitehead is a stay at home mother of one child and wife to a member of the Canadian Forces. Kari completed her diploma in Early Childhood Education in the spring of 2006 and worked in licensed childcare centres for over 5 years before venturing into parent interactive playgroups and casual care programs. Another move brought on the new adventure of home child care before having her first child. Kari and her husband were posted back to Kingston in the summer of 2013 after being in New Brunswick for the past 3 years. Kari has many years working with children of all ages including children with exceptionalities and strives to make sure kids are having fun learning, in a loving environment that’s safe and where they feel comfortable to be themselves. In her spare time Kari loves to be skating, skiing, hiking, and spending time with her friends and growing family. She looks forward to giving fellow parents that needed break during the week and getting to know more wonderful children.
