We are writing in support of Vernetta Ingram’s interest in a position with families in need here on Sitter.com. Our 11 year old son attends Overbrook School for the Blind. He is visually and hearing impaired and has additional challenging developmental and behavioral issues. Vernetta has cared for our son, daily for over one year at his school. Vernetta has a very strong work ethic and is a devoted caregiver and is a person with impeccable character and integrity. With her dedication to our son's well being, he has made marked improvement in behavior and self-help skills. We attribute his improvement to the patience, and dedication of Vernetta and feel she would be an asset to any family. As the parent of a special needs child, there comes a sense of vulnerability and anxiety regarding everything in our child’s everyday life. However, when our son was placed in Vernetta's care, those feelings of anxiousness disappeared and a sense of comfort and security took over from the moment we met her. It was a welcome change in our lives and the life of our son. She provides consistency and structure in his daily routines which promotes a sense of security for him as well as the other students and helps maintain order. Most importantly, she recognizes the individuality of our son and plans accordingly to his needs. She has a profound love and patience for our son and is dedicated to his success. She takes a genuine interest in all aspects of his life. She made an effort to get to know us and offer support to us as well, recognizing the impact a child’s home life can have on behavior and performance in school. We are extremely impressed and grateful for the care Vernetta takes of our son and his classmates. Vernetta's character and performance are that of a sincere and caring person.
