I'm an
Individual
Hello, My name is Julie. I have 30 plus years in Child Care, taking care of all ages of children. At a local community college I received 30 college credits in Child Development. I am up to date on my CPR and First Aid. I live in Champaign close to the Champaign Library. My husband and I have been married for 37 years. We have a 28 year old daughter that lives out East. We also have 4 dogs and 1 cat that we brought to Champaign with us when we moved from the farm. Let me tell you about my experience. I started working at a daycare center as a aide in the infant room right out of high school while I was going to college. Two years later I took a job as a 3 yr old teacher teaching preschool at a center. In 1984 our daughter was born. I stayed home with her till she was 23 months old, At that time I took a job closer to our home working as the lead teacher of prekindergarten/school age children. At that time the majority of kindergarten children only went to school half days. When I turned 33 years old I opened my own daycare in my home. I did this for 10 years - ages from 6 weeks to 12 year old. I had a family of 3 girls in my daycare that were looking for someone to come into their home (the oldest would be starting kindergarten)-they lived in the city and the bus ride would be only 5 minutes from their house. It would have been 30 to 45 minutes from my house. I decided that I would like to work for them in their home. My first nanny job was taking care of the three girls full time for 5 years until the youngest went off to school. The following fall I took a job in a small daycare center as the lead teacher in the nursery. I took care of 4 infants (6wks to 1 yr) on my own. During the time I offered my services to parents in the daycare (not just the nursery) going to their homes, taking care of their children after work and on Saturdays. In March of 2003 I took a job as a Nanny for a family of twin girls. (they were 4 wks old when I started - 30 hrs a week) When the girls turned two Mom and Dad decided the girls needed socialization with other children. I still take care of the girls on Wednesdays (this day can be changed) On Wednesdays we venture out into the community attending the library's story hour or going to classes offered by the Champaign/Urbana Park districts. We really like the outdoor class room classes we attend at the Nature Center in Urbana. During nice weather/summer months we visit as many parks as we can - different one each week. We spend lots of time playing games - doing crafts - reading books - singing/dancing or just cuddling on the couch talking about our favorite things. I have also been working for a family with a little guy three days a week for the past year and a half. Mom/Dad would like to put him in Daycare for socialization (too). I went through a Bone Marrow Transplant for cancer 23 years ago. I was told that because of my immune system at the time I should not go back into daycare. Here is what i told the Dr's "I love what I do! I believe God gave me the patience and love of working with children so that I could help loving parents by taking care of their children while they were busy at work. I have always enjoyed my job - but I can say that I love being a nanny the best. So much more one on one with the kids! Kids grow up so fast these days. I think being at home in their own environment takes a little bit of the everyday stress out of their lives. Which is one less thing for Mom and Dad to have to worry about. I have very good references that are more than willing to speak with you. I can send my resume to you. You may contact me by e-mail if you would like [email protected] I am really looking forward to hearing from you. Julie
