Hello, My name is Melissa, I am married with 3 beautiful daughters ages 4 weeks, 3 1/2 and 5 1/2. I have been caring for children for several years and have successfully worked with 7 care..... families and would be happy to give them as references. I have run my own in home day care for appox 2 years and prior to that I worked out of the home with children. I was the before and after school director at Southport Presbyterian School and also a lead in the childcare department at the Baxter YMCA. I also taught k-2nd grade before and after school at The Goddard School. I am a firm believer that children learn well when they are experiencing activities hands on. This includes crafts, fun foods, science experiments and also by exploring the outdoors, allowing their imaginations to grow. A few of our recent crafts include painting wooden magnets, all about me books, door hangers for their bedrooms and picture frames. We also practice identifying letters, shapes and numbers through exploring the house and out doors. We practice tracing and coloring in the lines. Depending on the childs age they will practice cutting paper with scissors and gluing. (This usually comes with super cute results!) We also work with flash cards. I provide all meals, drinks and snacks for older children. for breakfast I serve whole wheat waffles, toast cereal with or without eggs. I always serve with a fresh fruit and a dairy. Lunch is a main dish with a fresh fruit and fresh veggie with a drink. Snacks of course vary daily. ( I Can give you a more detailed list of exactly what food we serve, when we speak.)
