Hi! My name is Nikki. I have had multiple experiences with children for many years. I currently work at camp. This is my third year and I work with 6 and 7-year-old girls, and 5-year-old boys this past summer. In this job I help the children to change and make sure that they apply sunscreen. I also help them in the activities they participate in and make sure that they don't get injured and if they do I help to aid them. I have also had experience with sixth grade students while participating in my senior internship program in high school. During the year I would help the students with their art projects and help tidy up the art rooms for my mentor. I also did this voluntarily throughout my high school career. Currently I also babysit for two children, one who is autistic. I help them with dinner, homework, prepare them for bedtime and I am also there as a friend. I also babysit for the child that I shadowed this past summer who has Asperger's Syndrome and his little brother and sister. He is 6, his brother is 4 and his sister is 2. I love working with children. I am also currently working at an after school program with children who range from kindergarten all the way to fifth grade. Here I help them with their homework, give them snacks and teach enrichment programs to them, while also playing boardgames and taking them outside on the playground. Currently I am attending John Jay college of Criminal Justice as a forensic psychology major. I have a 3. 0 GPA and I intend to someday, hopefully work in the criminal justice system. If that does not work out, I want to go back to school and become a psychology teacher, or a psychiatrist.
