Hello, My name is Ms. Barbara. I moved to Virginia a year and a half ago to help my daughter with her baby after retirement. I worked for Detroit Public Schools for 21 years. I have extensive experience providing afterschool (latchkey), home daycare, prevention programs, conflict resolution, self-esteem and just loving young ones. When you have a gift, it shines through and makes room for you. My gift is loving and nurturing children. Making sure they are safe and well provided for. Your child will experience more than just a sitter. I will provide (age-appropriate) activities that will allow your child to grow and show case that special gift that he/she has. We will take walks and learn to appreciate nature and become comfortable that even the little squirrels are taken care of by the universe and to respect all life forms, even the trees. Everyone and everything has a purpose. Ms. Barbara will work with the parents to determine what their needs are to enable them to go to and from work completely at PEACE with the care your precious little one is receiving. What an honor to be trusted with the upcoming generation and help guide them to loving themselves and the world around them. I believe in quiet time daily to learn to breathe and just be. Teaching that it is wonderful to just be with no expectations or worries. I believe in play time that not only exercises the body but also exercises the mind. Ms. Barbara will offer creative play and will definitely let parents know when an old shirt and jeans are needs for painting and/or crafting. Yes! I love crafts and puppets. I was Children's Church director for years and created a curriculum for all ages to grow spiritually while having Fun! Fun! Fun! I use puppets, singing, dancing, play-time, and crafts to entertain until you, the parent arrives to pick-up the most precious cargo you will every transport! LOL Yes, children are noisy and they like to have fun. I think we have domesticated generations by telling children "No" too many times while they were oftentimes recognizing their gift. Let them play! Let them explore! Let them take it apart and put it together again! I use blocks to build castles housing a special toy and the joy of breaking into the kingdom to rescue dolly or batman is the ultimate game for little ones. I pray you have heard my heart and realize that I just love children. I live in Virginia Beach near Kempsville and Indian River. I am selective. We must be a good fit. The child, parents and Ms. Barbara should click and have the same goal: Providing a safe, healthy and fun place to go until you return. You want PEACE of mind? I also offer parents an incentive. For every three months of consecutive care, you will receive a Two-hour weekend pass. Use it to run errands, attend a movie with your significant other, etc. on Saturday or Sunday first to be cleared with Ms. Barbara to allow time for scheduling. My fees are competitive and I will definitely give a discount when more than one child is involved. The beauty of Ms. Barbara's PEACE of Mind Home Day Care (is that long or what?) LOL, your child will be in a home atmosphere. He/she will be comfortable and safe here with me. Not to say that centers are not safe or even comfortable, however, as a parent, I would not have traded my home day-care provider for a center. The benefits of being in a home atmosphere that has been adjusted to accommodate little ones is a blessing. Fewer colds and less money. I worked for the day care center for years! LOL I love to talk, I have a lot of energy! Especially talking about something I love to do!
