I'm an
Individual
Dear Family, "What makes a nanny special is the content of the heart... It starts with the love of children, what a beautiful way to start." (Christopher Robin) My name is Sarah Bradley and I was born in St. Catharines, Ontario on February 28th, 1987. I am the youngest of four children. Growing up in a large family, there was always someone else to play with, to argue with and to be there when needed. My parents worked hard to give us everything we could possibly want. They taught us to respect others and our environment and to be thankful for all that we had. I think I had a great childhood and one of the most important things for me working with children is that I haven’t forgotten how I felt like when I was a child. My home town is small and quiet. I miss it when I'm far away exploring new parts of the world and it is a pleasure to come back to it to recharge before my next adventure. I like to keep busy; in fact my family would describe me as a fidget. I also like traveling very much and as a child I dreamt of touring the world. I'm still working on that one, country by country. I have had many experiences over the years that have contributed to my choice to build my career around working with children. While studying recreation and leisure services at Fanshawe College, I completed my second year field practicum in a grade 2 classroom. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to assist in the educational development of the students. Upon completing this practicum I considered continuing my education to pursue a career in teaching. However, reflecting on the school experience and defining what I enjoyed most about it, made me question whether or not I would be most fulfilled working in a classroom. The education system focuses primarily on the cognitive development of children, which is an important role, however I prefer to be involved with more holistic child development. Therefore, I decided to postpone further formal study and began to travel the world and learn from hands on experience instead. I am happy with the outcome because it is what led me to discover my passion for being an extraordinary nanny. I began working in Whistler BC originally hired as a ski instructor but landed a job working for Whistler Blackcomb Whistler kids in the destination daycare for guests with children 18 months to 3 years of age. I began working there in November 2007 with the intention of staying one season. Three and a half seasons later (with time traveling in between) I am still enjoying the rewards of my job and the new challenges I am presented with each day. In the morning we are given very basic information regarding the child and we are responsible for ensuring the physical, intellectual, emotional and social safety of the “mini ski campers” by implementing safe and entertaining activities. Meeting so many new little personalities from all over the world meant taking the time to connect and learn quickly what works and what does not work with each child. The time that I have spent working as a daycare teacher, and also as an on call nanny, has assured me that I had made the right choice to work closely with families to help meet their child's specific needs. I don't have my own children yet. My family consists of my parents, brother, sisters and my wonderful, beloved, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. I love them very much and I am not shy in expressing my love to them. I enjoy and appreciate every moment of my life. I am an active person, who loves the outdoors. I have had always had a passion for fitness and health and take pride in what I do. I enjoy my social time and choose to spend it surrounded by my friends. If you asked them to describe me they would say I am cheerful, frank and kind person. Although, sometimes a fidget, I don't do well at sitting for very long. I like to be challenged and explore new things. this is why I absolutely love the Whistler lifestyle. "The value of a nanny is more than words can say. they live to make a difference; they strive for a better day". (careernanny (careernannyblogspot) I believe I have what it takes to be your extraordinary nanny and I am eager to speak with you! ** I am currently looking for a short term nanny/sitter position in Niagara. I am moving to Germany to work as a nanny at the end of June. Thanks!
