Sitter in Scottsdale, Arizona
I'm an
Individual
I have been babysitting since I was 13. At 19, while I was in college I took my first part-time nanny job. That family had 2 kids; a 1 year old and a 2 year old. I worked for them for 2 years until the mom stopped working and decided to stay home with them. Then I took another job working for a family who also had 2 kids; 1 and 3. I worked with them for about 2 years and had to quit because I was moving to Arizona. When I got to Arizona I was a full-time nanny for a family for about 7 months who had 2 kids; 6 months old and 2 years old. I accepted the position before I moved out to Arizona and quickly realized a lot of the things I was told were inaccurate. I stuck it out for 7 months because of the kids, but it got to a point where it was best for us to part ways. Shortly after I left that family, I started to nanny for a family with 3 kids; 6mo, 2 and 4. I was with that family full-time for 3 years, up until I decided to move abroad. I am still extremely close with all the families I have nannied for except for the 1st family in Arizona. Not only did I build strong relationships with the kids, but I did with the parents as well. Working with all my families taught me so much and each time helped strengthen my childcare skills. When I moved abroad I had just gotten my degree and was excited to try my hand in the professional world. I took a job working in the admissions office. One of my main tasks was to administer the assessment tests that the kids had to take to get into the school. Every day I would teach a group of kids about what the test entails, answer questions, check in on them, and grade the tests. This became my favorite part of my job. I didn't enjoy sitting in front of a computer or sending emails or working on the database, I enjoyed working with the kids. So for me, the professional world is over rated. I have a college degree and I never saw myself being a nanny after I finished school, but after spending some time working with adults and having to put on heels every morning, I decided to do something that makes me happy.
