Hello! My family and I are looking for an au pair to help us out for the summer. We have 3 children, ages 4, 6 and 8. I would like to find someone who can speak almost exclusively to our children in Spanish and spend time teaching them Spanish when she is caring for them. We live within walking distance of the DU campus. Most of our summer is pretty unscheduled and can accommodate your other plans, but we do have a one-month trip to a lake house in Michigan planned (7/10 - 8/8) that we would like our au pair to accompany us on. We are driving, so those dates can be moved a few days forward or backward if necessary. Some reasons I feel our position is not the traditional au-pair job are: 1) I am a stay at home mom almost all the time but have a unique job (birth doula) that requires me to be gone periodically to help my clients with their births. I also have appointments with clients 2-3 times/week. 2) We do not need full time help. 20-30 hours per week should be ample. For this reason, we have budgeted $100 per week for our au pair in addition to room and board. 3) This is not the traditional 1 or 2 year position. We are new to the au pair world, and want to try it out for the summer before deciding if it works for our family. If it is a good fit, we would consider continuing the arrangement after the summer. If we continue the position after the summer, it could be an ideal arrangement for a student, as my children will be in school and will mainly need support before and afterward, and some evenings. My schedule is flexible enough to work around your class schedule. I think this could be a great opportunity for someone who maybe wants to improve her English skills, be a part of a really fun and loving family, and needs a place to live as well as work.
