My name is Emily. I am 20 years old and currently working on my degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in special education. I have always loved children, even when I was a child myself. Growing up I worked in my church's nursery, and before I went off to college, I often led the 3-5-year-old class. It wasn't until I worked at a preschool as a teacher's aide that I discovered my desire to be a full-time teacher. I love seeing them learn and grow and having a hand in that. My time at the preschool taught me how to handle children of very young ages when they are just starting to make sense of the world. At times, I had to lead and teach a group of 7 to 9 2-year-olds and 3-year-olds. As a teacher's aide I cleaned bathrooms, prepared snacks, did laundry, read stories, and prepared and created crafts. I am CPR certified and have my fingerprint clearance card. I am compassionate yet firm. Working with children leaves me feeling unbelievably fulfilled and satisfied. That feeling is why I want to work with children. I have the most experience with babies to 5 years, but I am also great with children up to 12.
