Plans and implements activities which are designed to develop a range of social, cognitive, and/or motor skills for individual and/or groups of children within a specified age range, working within a child care center, classroom, or field environment. Supervises and trains student employees and/or staff engaged in childcare and development activities. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Prepares and implements learning and skills development plans for targeted population, on a weekly and/or monthly basis. 2. Designs and implements developmentally appropriate individual and/or group activities and learning opportunities according to individual needs and learning styles. 3. Provides individual and/or group direction, guidance and supervision of children in the performance of developmental activities. 4. Prepares instructional, developmental, and recreational materials, facilities, and equipment in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards; instructs, guides and/or supervises children in the proper and safe use of facilities and equipment. 5. Instructs and monitors children in the development of proper health care and hygiene skills; as appropriate to position, performs nutrition and hygiene procedures as necessary for children too young or otherwise unable to provide for themselves. 6. As appropriate to position, prepares and supervises meals and snacks for children participating in programs. 7. Interacts with parents and community groups; maintains open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement in the program and supporting the child's family relationships. 8. Performs routine cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance of center facilities and equipment. 9. May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation. 10. Willing to attend Professional Development Courses 11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
