Sitter in Oakland, California

Hello, my name is Melissa Arroyo, I'm 18 years old & currently an upcoming senior at Alternatives in Action high school. I speak Spanish & English, I will be taking sign language classes as soon as classes start later on this month. I am the second oldest of 6 siblings, I have lots of experience working with children due to me babysitting my little siblings, cousins, nieces & nephew. Also, I was in an after school program which helped & did fun activities for the elementary across the street from my school which is called Green Leaf Elementary school. Other students & I would to go & help them with their homework, we did games & we also did a festival & invited their families. I also worked with Oakland Unite (summer 2016) which is a program that the city of Oakland provides for communities to help decrease crime rates while children are out of school. On some days we would meet up, plan our parts & roles, then a day later we would hand out flyers. After, we would hold events every Friday in a park & do free food, rafles, face painting, sports, dance contests, courses, we would also have special guests, one time a group of men came with horses & there was horse back riding around the park, there was a guy who had fixed broken bikes for the children & community. It was a really fun & beneficial experience.
