Needed - Cooperative Preschool Director San Marcos Parent-Child Workshop - Goleta, CA Our cooperative preschool, San Marcos Parent-Child Workshop, is seeking a Director. In this position, you will guide a dedicated community of parents and staff to collaboratively provide an emergent, play-based program for children 2-5. We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic person who will actively help us to be better parents and allow our children to thrive emotionally, socially, and developmentally. The environment is fast-paced and complex, but allows for a great deal of creativity and flexibility. Combining the work of an early education teacher, a mentor, and a non-profit administrator you will have a unique opportunity to continue the 60-year legacy of SMPCW in the Santa Barbara/Goleta community in a brand new location. The position will begin August 15, 2016 for 30 hours per week, with a full-time option available for negotiation. An ideal candidate would also be interested in working limited hours June-August 2016 to facilitate the move of the school to our new site. Planned SMPCW Programs - 2016-201... ● Morning Cooperative School Sessions (weekdays, 8am - 12:30pm) ● Afternoon Supervised Play Sessions (weekdays, 12:30pm - 5:00pm) ● Summer Themed Sessions (schedule TBD) Position Overview Reporting directly to the SMPCW Governing Board, the Director is responsible for the strategic vision and day-to-day operation of the preschool. The appropriate candidate will provide parent and family guidance, teach the AM Cooperative session, supervise AM and PM program staff, and create a cooperative and community based atmosphere for both children and adults. The candidate must be able to relate effectively to people from diverse cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, academic and disability backgrounds. Required Experience and Education ● Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with a major or emphasis in early childhood education or child development or other equivalent family or childhood educational program ● At least two years of professional experience in early childhood programs, a cooperative preschool setting or an equivalent educational setting ● Possess or be qualified for a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or a Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing ● Possess at least three semesters or equivalent quarter units in administrative coursework, staff relations, or business administration ● Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills ● Comfortable and proficient using technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office programs and email communication ● Exceptional time management and organizational skills Preferred Skills and Qualification ● Strong commitment to play-based ECE ● Highly efficient organizational, time management, and multitasking skills ● Experience teaching, directing, and/or parenting in a cooperative preschool environment ● Background in administering a high-quality preschool educational program ● Supervisory experience in creating and maintaining a collaborative working environment for parents and all staff ● Experience as a facilitator of adult learners ● Knowledge of business practices including licensing regulations and fundraising ● Ability to work indoors/outdoors, sit/stand, and lift 40 lbs minimum ● Bilingual, Spanish-speaking encouraged ● Interest in applying for the SBCC Adult Adjunct instructor position related to the SMPCW Parent Education Night Class Compensation ● $37,000 for 30 hours a week, with a full-time option available for negotiation ● Annual $3000 health care stipend ● Professional Development stipend ● Compensation for June, July, August 2016 - Official contract will begin August 15, 2016 How to Apply Applications are being accepted now.
