I provide childcare service for children from ages 3months to 12 years old. After hour and weekend childcare is not available. Occasionally, I will offer a “Late Night” pick-up for childcare parents to have “Me Time” or “Date Night”. I will post the details two weeks in advance so you may have enough time to plan your night. Two Week “Feel” Period I provide a two-week period, where your family and I have time to adjust to one another. In these two weeks; We will be able to determine whether or not I meet your family’s expectations. This time period will allow me to determine if I can give your child the quality care they deserve. If you feel Olive Tree is not for your family on the second week, no hard feelings! No further notice is required. You will then be reimbursed your one week holding fee. If I feel I am not able to provide the individual care your child and family needs. I will give you specific details as to why I feel I am not meeting my expectations as a childcare provider. If we cannot come to terms and/or make any adjustments to accommodate what is lacking, I will reimburse your holding fee. You or I will no longer be obligated in anyway thereafter. Your feedback is appreciated for quality improvement. After the two week “Feel” period has pass, disenrollment policy will apply. Vision My vision as a child care provider at Olive Tree Home Family Child Care is to offer high quality early childhood education in a loving home family childcare environment; where my family and childcare families become one uniting family, learning from one another. Values I value a child’s imagination and curiosities. I value children learning through play. I value a peaceful and loving environment. I value the uniqueness of family structures. I value every family’s cultural beliefs and traditions Philosophy I believe in treating others, as you want to be treated with dignity and respect I believe in building a child’s self-esteem with a positive environment, providing guidance by using impeccable words to encourage wonderful creations. I believe in providing a loving nurturing environment where children can explore their curiosities, learn through play, and accomplish milestones I believe children learn best when they are free to play without worry of getting a little dirty. I believe in learning from one another through cultural traditions, holidays rituals and food. I believe in letting a child freely express themselves verbally and/or artistically I believe we can change social biases one mind at a time, when understanding each other’s surface and deep cultural differences, we can become better people. I believe this begins in early childhood education. Emergent Curriculum Olive Tree HFCC is a Reggio Emilia inspired home family child care implementing an emergent curriculum with a constructivist approach, anti-bias, gender neutral learning environment where children can become master players and expert thinkers. In the living room children can visit the, a dramatic play area, passive toy area and reading center. The back-yard welcomes children to develop their gross motor skills by playing the swing set, balancing on tree stumps and hopping in tires. There’s a sensory bin area with open-ended materials. This space encourages collaboration, communication and exploration. Many of the opened-materials are recycled items or items coming from natural resources made for children to use as manipulative. These materials also teach children household items can be re-purposed becoming more environmentally friendly. RECYCLE! REDUSE! REUSE! An emergent curriculum is one that builds upon the interests of the children. Topics for study are captured from the talk of the children and known interests of children (puddles, shadows, dinosaurs, and so on). So, children learn to count dinosaurs, read about dinosaurs, to draw dinosaurs if that is a topic of interest to them. Children will develop mathematics, reading readiness, and most importantly, social skill.
