Hello, My name is Ryley Copans and I am a 22-year-old recent graduate of Wheelock College. I majored in Political Science with a minor in the Juvenile Justice and Youth Advocacy program and a minor in writing. I live in Somerville and I was interested by your post and to learn which public transit you are located near. I have over ten years of experience in childcare working with various age groups. I have volunteered in a youth program and nursery, gaining experience with infants as young six months, and children up to age nine. I have also worked in multiple childcare settings as a camp counselor for ages five to ten over the course of various programs. After these camps, I worked in the Early Childhood Program at Catholic Charities, beginning as a “float” teacher, working in the pre-school classroom, the pre-k class, and the kindergarten class, working with kids ages 2.9-7 years old, and later became the assistant kindergarten teacher during summer and winter breaks. At Catholic Charities, I received certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Early Childhood Education. Most recently, I babysat for a family with a ten month old and a three-year-old, staying with the family for almost a year until they moved, and also babysat for a family with a ten month old and a six-year-old for a few months, often as a mother’s helper and walking the six-year-old to swim lessons. I have strong experience in childcare, and I am a responsible, dedicated, punctual worker. I develop meaningful and compassionate relationships with children that I work with. Over the summer, my availability is open, and at the end of August I will have orientation and begin law school; I would be open to discussing anything that the family would like to in terms of this.
