Hi, First, I want to thank you for taking the time to read my bio and learning about me. To tell you a little bit about myself, I just recently moved to Evanston, IL from Nebraska a couple of months ago. I love children and animals, and I want to utilize my skills to earn a little extra on the side. My hobbies are watching Nebraska Husker's volleyball, playing sand volleyball, trying out new coffee places, and spending time with my fiance and dog. I've primarily always worked in higher education and have continued to do so full-time. What experience do I have with children? In high school, I worked for an after-school program for 2 years. This consisted of overseeing 10-15 children in a school-like setting. We played games, helped with homework, and facilitated outdoor play. During that time, I also coached a 5th-grade volleyball team. In college, I worked for a Girl Scouts summer camp. Which was one of the most fun jobs I've ever had. The girls ranged in ages each week- between the ages of 6-15. We oversaw crafts, games, team building activities, swimming, outdoor play, and meals. My philosophy when working with kids is to get to know each child and learn what they respond to best. Each child's needs are different and taking the time to learn about them can be key to having successful rapport. I believe in responding to behaviors with positive reinforcement. Communication with parents is incredibly important and I value their wishes and needs. I pride myself on being responsible, punctual, and professional.
