My name is Ben Culpepper and I am a student at James Madison University. I am a rising junior, an English major with a double minor in Philosophy and German, who consistently achieves Deans List. During summers I work for my local YMCA as a swim instructor where I specifically work with young children all summer in teaching them how to swim efficiently and safely. I am CPR certified, and I own a dog of my own that has helped to increase my caregiver/provider repertoire. Additionally I have reliable transportation with which I am extremely safe and diligent. From my time working with children I have noticed that there is a certain skill that a person either has or simply does not have that allows one to communicate adeptly with a child where a message can be thoughtfully conveyed to achieve the child's fullest understanding of a desired matter. This skill requires compassion, patience, understanding, and diligence amongst other traits in order to be utilized to the fullest. I have noticed that I possess this skill; I discovered this phenomenon by being the most successful at teaching my groups of children to swim over the summer, and a reference for this testimony can be provided and confirmed upon request. Simply put, I love children and I love working with them, and I would be grateful for an opportunity to work with yours.
