I would LOVE to be considered to care for your child(ren), and I will tell you why I am the BEST candidate to provide an amazing quality of care for your family!! I have a warm, friendly, kind, loving and caring personality, and I love to have fun! I am very energetic, enjoy exploring the world around me, and I'm always coming up with new ideas! I am also extremely responsible and reliable, and take safety very seriously. I will be taking a CPR & First Aid course shortly to further my commitment to safely caring for child(ren) in my charge, and to give parents peace of mind. I am also very punctual and always arrive on time or a few minutes early, smiling and ready to go! I have past experience working in both child care centers and preschools. I was an Assistant Teacher to child care center classrooms with children ages 1.5 through 5 years, and also volunteered at an after-school therapeutic program for children with complex behavioral and emotional needs for children ages 6 through 12 years. As an Assistant Teacher I was responsible to help classroom teachers prepare and implement lessons, supervise group activities, play with the children, correct behavior using positive redirection or similar techniques, and assist with lunch and snack times. I also supervised children on the playground and during other outdoor activities. Additionally, I volunteered at a nonprofit that provided spaces at local family shelters for homeless children, some younger and some elementary school-age, to have supervised care and to play while their parents met with case workers or attended support groups. I led age-appropriate games, crafts and play activities, and ensured the comfort and safety of the children. Some of my favorite activities to do with children include games, imaginative play such as playing dress up or pretend, reading to them or encouraging them to read, playing outside, singing and dancing, arts & crafts, or anything else they might dream up (within YOUR reason, of course)! I think it's important to encourage children's creativity, as it helps them to develop and learn through play. If they are young enough for nap time I would be happy to assist with that if needed, as well as with homework help and supervision, light housekeeping, organizing (I'm really good at that!), laundry or light cooking. Don't expect gourmet meals, but simple meals are my specialty! :-) I am college educated and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Behavioral Sciences in 2008.
