Sitter in Pittsburgh
My name is Jamie, and I am a senior. I will be graduating in May, 2014. I am a Peer Mentor, Senator of Student Government, and I am also on my school's Equestrian Team. I grew up in the Highland Park area of Pittsburgh and graduated from High School in 2010. After I graduate in May, I intend on returning to school in August to pursue a biology degree, then furthering my education in Florida in order to receive a Master's Degree in Marine Biology. As a senior in the Early Childhood Education major, I have had a lot of experience in teaching young children in Prekindergarten through 4th grade. I've had about 500 hours of experience in the field over the past 3 and a half years and have spent all of my time in school learning about the different types of learners that exist in the world today and how to instruct them. I've used what I learned to teach English language learners, students with learning and behavioral disabilities, as well as typical students. I have implemented different teaching techniques in the classroom in order to relay the information to the students in the best way possible so that they would fully understand what I am teaching. I have also learned about and come to understand the multiple intelligence theory which emphasizes that every student learns differently. Through my experience in the classroom I have learned things that are not taught in my courses, like empathy, love, and compassion, which are things that anyone who spends any time with children needs to possess. I also adore animals. I have a Miniature Schnauzer and a hamster of my own. And, even though I have a very small dog, I like larger dogs as well as all other animals. I also have up-to-date Act 24, 34, 114, and 151 Clearances.
