Sitter in Red Deer, Alberta

Hi there! My name is Julia. I go to a private school on the east coast and was hoping to set up a babysitting or nanny job in Red Deer for the summer. I graduated this year and am trying to save up for university! I have CPR, First Aid, my babysitting course and my drivers license. I have been babysitting for a long time and love to care for children of all ages (yes, even two year olds!). At school I hold the position of "Head of House" for the Junior Girls Residence, and therefore am responsible for the girls at my school in middle school. I am their sister when they are sad or homesick, I ensure they are included at school, and I make sure they clean their rooms and follow the rules. I am a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters New Brunswick and spend a few hours a week mentoring an elementary aged girl. I talk to her about her family, her peer group, the dangers of bullying and name calling, the importance of a positive self image, and what she wants for her future. She is from a troubled home and it is my responsibility to act as an adult that she can rely on in her life. I also am a part of a mentoring program from grade 5 girls at a local elementary school. I talk to them about healthy eating, body image, social networking, the dangers of crash diets, and living a healthy life. I really care for these young girls and am genuinely interested in their well being. Since I go to school so far from home, I would like to use this summer as an opportunity to earn more money for school and to get more experience with children.
