Tiny Green Trees childrens center is seeking a part time director that will serve as the the key operating manager responsible for the year-round operation and administration of this for-profit environmental early childhood center, its staff, facilities, programs and its relationship with the Urban Ecology Center (Menomonee Valley branch). Description of Responsibilities The Director will work collaboratively with the Tiny Green Trees owners, administrative bookkeeper and other staff to successfully lead the centers operations. The director will care for and provide instruction of children as needed; manage the centers property and report bi-weekly at evening meetings; manage staff, including hiring/dismissal, planning and facilitating staff meetings, conducting orientations, and overseeing evaluation processes and continuing education requirements; and manage parent relations, including conducting tours/ family interviews, and providing regular email communications. He or she will accurately maintain records of the days and hours worked by substitutes, teachers and other staff as well as W-2 children. Director will assure that all staff and the facility meet requirements for licensing regulations and safety standards. They will also handle and establish the centers goals, as well as programs, newsletters, family workdays and seasonal gatherings. To care for our children in a low child-adult ratio of mixed-age groups in a non-institutionalized setting with consistent caregivers who have extensive training in an outstanding curriculum. QUALIFICATIONS: *Bachelor's degree *1 years experience as a manager or satisfactory completion of one credit or non-credit department-approved course in business or program administration. *1 year experience as a center director or child care teacher in a licensed child care center or kindergarten or satisfactory completion of one non-credit department approved course or one course for credit in early childhood education or its equivalent. *Within one year of assuming the position, each administrator shall complete at least 10 hours of training in supervision or personnel management, if the administrator has not previously received that training. The training may be counted as part of their annual continuing education requirement. *Proof of Registry level to be an administrator / director *work experience in fields related to environmental education, Waldorf education, LifeWays Childcare, Montessori education, Reggio education or early childhood education. PROFICIENCIES: Exceptional interpersonal and management communication skills A demonstrated expertise in time/task management Ability to work at both short-term operational level and long-term strategic level. Demonstration of leadership skills Evidence of sound business and financial management Experience in the supervision of employees Exceptional teaching skills Recruiting and motivating volunteers START DATE: August 1, 2014 SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with degree of experience, but generally beginning range $18,000-$22,000 salary per year.
