Who I Am: Hello friends! My name is Megan. I am a theatre and humane educator with extensive experience with all ages of children. I graduated Magna Laude from the University of Southern Maine with a degree in Theatre Education. My senior thesis was entitled, "Pedagogy in the Theatre Classroom." In it I created a full high school theatre curriculum, school calendar, and syllabus. I was recently a Humane Educator at the Animal Welfare Society wherein I created and conducted over 15 programs independently. I have worked with children on the Autism spectrum, with triplets, with toddlers, with all ages of school children, and with animals ranging from dogs, cats, rats, ferrets, bunnies, chinchillas, and bearded dragons. I have taught kindness, empathy, and compassion for domesticated animals for the last 4 years. I am patient, loving, disciplined, and an excellent child and animal welfare advocate. I am CPR and first aid certified. My availability is flexible. Description of Skills: I am adept doing play date supervision, creating, writing, and implementing curriculum around whatever you want your child to develop, whether it be STEM based, fine or gross motor development, dramatic play, or just plain fun stuff. I am a master at book reading and voices. I am an excellent cook, and always look for ways to make eating right fun (I have a husband with the palate of a teenager). I will be excited and happy to provide homework help, particularly in the areas of reading comprehension, text analysis, writing, history, and all science. School pick-up and drop-off are no sweat. I am comfortable working with sick children and am an excellent care giver with a deep appreciation for boundaries, goal setting, and connection and re-direction as necessary. I have known Mega Cross for 4 years. I am a volunteer at the Animal Welfare Society animal shelter and Megan joined our shelter family 4 years ago. She became the Humane Education manager and, as such, has been responsible for many venues and programs that involved bringing the public into the shelter and bringing shelter programs and activities out into the public. She has taught the Summer Camp program that brings groups of students (children) into the shelter for a week of teaching, experiencing, and interacting with shelter animals. Each week a different group of young people (grouped by age levels) spend their days, guided by a very enthusiastic Megan) learning how to interact with animals, being a responsible pet owner, going on field trips to places that expose the students to a variety of animals and their environments, meeting and interacting with the animals that are at the shelter, and doing animal-related craft activities. She spearheaded a program called "Jumping for Joy", with grants from the Doug Flutie Foundation. This program pairs former shelter dogs who are well socialized, with high school students on the autism spectrum. They have 8 sessions working as a pair, learning to interact appropriately, doing agility, and giving the students the ability to realize and trust their own abilities. She has done many outreach programs at schools and public events where children learn to understand and appropriately interact with dogs, cats, and other animals that they may come into contact with. I feel that I could write an extensive resume of Megan's work with children. She is highly regarded by staff and volunteers who have worked with her. Her enthusiasm, energy, and creativity are her greatest assets.

I would highly recommend Megan C for any job with children. She is kind, entertaining, and responsible. I have experience watching her as a teacher and she has a valuable gift of educating children that keeps their attention and interest. She made my grandchildren feel accepted and loved. Megan also has a unique ability to be playful but at the same time be vigilant and responsible.

Megan is dependable, professional and organized. She is patient and kind but maintains discipline and gains the utmost respect from children in her care. Her theatrical background helps her engage with children and sets her apart from other caregivers. She is amazing!

Megan is one of the very few people I not only implicitly trust with my children but feel like I’m giving them a gift when they get time with her. She’s thoughtful , loving and engaging. She treats and speaks to them with respect and expects the same in return. She teaches and nurtures, not ‘babysits’. The fact that she loves animals is a bonus, so you don’t have to worry if the person caring for your children will be stressed by having your family pets around. I absolutely recommend Megan whole-heartedly.
