My name is Tiani and I am a 19 year old college student looking to expand my career opportunities and gain job experience toward my overall career goal as a Nurse Practioner specializing in Midwifery. I have over two and a half years of experience working in healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, as well as home healthcare. I have experience working with children on the pediatric floor of the hospital ages ranging from newborn to teens. I also have experience working with children who have special needs or mental disabilities. My grandmother owned her own child care business that she ran out of her home that I lived in growing up. Once I turned 14 she hired me on as a teachers assistant. I gained a lot of child care experience working with her as I attended her refresher courses with her and training classes. I make education, fitness, health, and social interaction very serious when working with a family. I like to treat the hours in which the children are in my car as a after-school type of atmosphere or summer school. I like to set a school based curriculum with the children modifying it to fit each family. Subjects such as Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading, and Physical Education are all incorporated into this curriculum , however adjusted to insure it suits the families beliefs and values. I try and also take the children on "field trips" to the zoo, museums, pools, YMCA, parks, movies, and other things to keep them busy as well as show them a great time. I like to make bi-weekly progress reports to incorporate Mom and Dad, or Guardians, of how the child is doing.
