When I began working with my pervious family, I cared for a 1 ½ year old, his twin pre-school aged cousins, as well as their older brother (who had special needs). I worked with this family for about a year. I put heavy emphasis on active physical and cognitive play, communication and language development, and social skills. My discipline style consisted of age-appropriate time outs, child-led discussions, and positive reinforcement for good behavior. In addition to my nanny and babysitting experience, I’ve been around young children for over 10 years. As the oldest in my family (as well as my foster families), I shared responsibility for child care. I’ve worked with children of all ages at many different care levels and have extensive experience with foster children as well as children with behavioral hurdles to overcome.
