Hi I am Lenore..I was the mother to 6 children. 4 of which I adopted with some form of FAS. I was raised in a multi generation home where I had grandparents, great grandparents and great great aunt, aunts and uncles and cousins all living in the same household. I learned that we all were responsible for everyone else, whether it was entertaining them, helping with day to day functions and cleaning, feeding, storytelling. I started my own business at a young age of 9 where I was a mothers helper, which included housekeeping, cooking, laundry, babysitting, and entertainment of the children under my charge. we went on outdoor excursions and did crafts. I have learned patience and that everyone has their own level of understanding and that I am responsible for finding the way to get onto their level to be of assistance. I have worked with people with ADD, ADHD, FAS, dementia, Alzheimer, missing limbs, sightless and deafness. I have done years of volunteer work with ARC industry in Collingwood, PEP in North Bay, and helped parents in Collingwood working with the CAS. I have taken the STEP parent course [Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) ] Barbara Coloroso seminar, kids are worth it. I have my NVCI training, CPR and 1st aid, safe food handlers certificate. I enjoy seeing the faces of the charges I work with light up with excitement when I show them something new and exciting. I love storytelling, playing in the snow and sand, taking walks and hikes in the neighbourhood, and other age appropriate activities. Finger painting, crafts from clean recyclable items and turn them into works of art and gifts. I sew, knit, quilt, crochet, I have taken many years of martial arts, enjoy biking, hiking, swimming, canoeing, fishing, using the library, whether it is book borrowing or going to the various activities they have going on.
