Hello, families of Devon! I'm Laura, a passionate and experienced mother of two children. We used to live in Paignton where I took them to Mother and Toddlers group, Tumble Tots, swimming lessons, to NCT events and playgroup. After swimming we would go into Totnes where they would choose their lunch and then a felt kit in the craft shop. During the summer holidays we joined in the activities at the library. As they grew up I took them to ballet, rainbows and cubs. At home there was painting, playdough, games, cooking. When I worked at playgroup the children on my table would help one another measure the ingredients and mix whatever we were making so that everyone contributed. My children and I would play games spotting their initial letters on signs. I taught them fractions which are easy to teach when children divide cakes into portions. I used to record the BBC schools programmes and we would watch them together. They helped to make carrot cake by weighing ingredients, grating the carrots and mixing and made pizza dough and, copying a programme of Fireman Sam, made faces with the cheese etc. My daughter reflected that there was always something to do and it appears she was never bored in the holidays. My membership of the local NCT group meant that i could be called upon to babysit which I often did. I also helped in school by weeding the garden, listening to the children read and supervised the girls changing at the swimming pool. I was on the playgroup committee and the PTA. When my son was a baby I took a course in First Aid specifically for babies and toddlers. I also took an OU babies and toddlers course and later attended parenting classes. Before they moved away I was the support worker for a mum and daughter through Safe Families for Children. I'm currently working as a house/pet sitter for two agencies.
